National Fix a Leak Month

National Fix A Leak Month

Although not as tasty or flashy as some national days (we’re looking at you, National Donut Day), National Fix a Leak Month reminds us to pay attention and look for sneaky leaks and water wasters lurking in our homes.

Did You Know...

The average homeowner in Arizona wastes over 10,000 gallons of water each year!

That's a lot, and here are the most common culprits and what you can do to stop them.

Dripping Faucets: A leak of a drop per second wastes about 3,000 gallons a year!

Dripping Showerhead: A showerhead that leaks 10 drips per minute wastes more than 29 gallons per month.

Saving Tip: Upgrade to a WaterSense showerhead to save 2,700+ gallons a year.

Hidden Leaks: Not all home leaks in Mesa AZ, Chandler AZ, and surrounding areas are easy to spot. There could be leaks around faucet spouts or under the sink where connections to the water supply or drain are located. In addition, water heaters, washing machines, and refrigerators with ice or water dispensers can develop slow leaks where you can’t see them. Hidden leaks waste water and can develop into a moldy mess that could lead to costly repairs. Don't know where to look? Give John’s Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing a call at 480.649.1000. Our licensed plumbers will perform a whole house plumbing inspection and get you taken care of.

Leaky Potty: Leaky toilets are one of the top water wasters. As components age, the flapper can stick or develop leaks. This may produce a running water sound but can also be silent. The average leaky toilet in Arizona wastes 700 gallons of water a year!

Saving Tip: For more savings, upgrade to WaterSense toilets to save 12,000+ gallons of water a year. This will save water and lower your home's water bill!

Leak Check: Remove the lid from the tank and remove cleaning agents. Flush to clear chemicals from the tank. Add a few drops of food coloring into the water in the tank (colored instant drink powder works too). Wait about 60 minutes. If there is color in the bowl or along the bottom of the toilet – you have a leak. Remember to flush away the colored water from your tank to avoid staining your fixtures.

Plunger 101: Not all plungers are created equal! Are you using the correct plunger to clear your clog? Check John’s Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing's Plunger 101 video to learn more about how to plunge away problems.

Carlos Garcia is amazing. I felt like we were long time friends. Very easy for me and my husband to discuss our AC concerns. Carlos carefully explained any issues while showing us pictures of the areas checked. He did a thorough check up. I look forward to working with him again.

Amazing! We have used John's Refrigeration for over 20 years due to the quality of service. Mikel arrived 20 minutes after we called on a Monday morning and in addition to a professional and efficient job he was very kind and explained all work needed to be done. When John's added a plumbing division we were so delighted and the work in plu, bing is it the same high level as their refrigeration work. This plumbing job exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend.

    Outstanding Job

John's is a terrific company... from the folks in the office to the technicians in the field. I never feel pressured or feel like I am being "sold a bill of goods". Brandon was my technician today, and he did an outstanding job of not only performing the maintenance, but also communicating very well what he did, and things to look out for as we move forward. I highly recommend John's to my clients, and to whomever is reading this!
